3rd Annual Kids Night...

was a success!!

Great work to everyone who came out and helped make this such a blast. We had about 45 kids turn out, and around 15 Youth Group members come out to help.

The kids did a variety of activities, whether it be colouring, bowling, making a Pumpkin-Turkey or playing 'Pin-the-Peduncle-on-the-Pumpkin'. The evening was topped off with a hot-dog dinner (a total of 129 hot dogs were eaten!) and a Popsicle dessert as a few youth-group members put on a skit for the kids.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and lending a hand (or two). The kids had a great night, and it couldn't have been done without all your help!

Don't forget about the upcoming bake-sale (you can get community hours for helping out with this too!)

Cheers,

Mike Krikke

thoughts on Evangelism

Wow. I had high expectations for Rev. Bezuyen's talk, but they were far exceeded!
I think I'm going to have an interesting week. I'd like to think I'll keep the fire that was kindled in me tonight, but the sad reality is I'll probably go back to the old habits, the old sins.
I'll let the odd swear-word slip, I'll make fun of someone just because people around me are, I won't do my work to the best of my ability...

But this will come to mind, I'm sure- I am a light to all those around me, at school - even if it is a Christian school, at home - even to my little sister, everywhere I go. I am, whether I like it or not, an ambassador of the Christian Faith.
Here's praying I don't spoil our reputation.

Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness. Gentleness. Self-control. Just thought I'd remind myself (and maybe you) what we're supposed to be modeling.

Have a Blessed week. And Get Stoked For Roots Community Day.

Love.

Lawren

T-Shirts!

Hey All,

T-Shirts are in! For those of you who paid so far, you can grab your t-shirt off me (Mike) on Sunday. For the rest who haven't paid dues yet (you and we know who you are ... :D ) you can get your shirt as soon as you pay up. In case you forgot how much dues were, it was $15.00 for the year, which includes extracurricular expenses and the running of youthgroup on the whole!

So thanks again, and hope you're stoked for the tee's!

Minutes of the Leader Meeting

Hey Everyone,

Here are just a few key things we covered in the meeting we had last night.

- Roadside Assistance Magazine: If you're interested interested, just talk to any of us leaders or speak with Laura Kieft and we'll get you set up with a magazine subscription! You can read more about the magazine on their website at: http://roadsideassistancemagazine.com/index.php

- Leading meetings: At the next meeting, we'll be passing around a sign-up sheet for those interested in leading a meeting in the future. It really isn't difficult at all, basically all you have to do is just read the questions during the study period, and just give your thoughts on them, and get other to participate. If you feel like doing more or leading along-side someone else, you can do that too! Its all up to you, we'd love to see more participation in leadership because in the future, it might be you who's leading the BW Youth Group!

- Bulldogs Game: We're looking to organize a Bulldogs game hopefully in the future. The game would most likely be the Hamilton Bulldogs vs Toronto Marlies (because I want to see Justin Poggee + Jiri Tlusty play) but their soonest available games are Feb/March. Tickets would cost most likely $16.00 per person, the more people that come the cheaper!

- Upcoming Events:
October 19th - Hike + Potluck Dinner + Rev. Bezuyen Speech (more info to follow soon)
November 1st - Kids Night
November 15th - Bake Sale Fundraiser

August 24th - Bulletin Announcement

ATTENTION YOUTH OF BURLINGTON-WATERDOWN (Highschool age & up)

Are you ready for a new, exciting way to study the Bible AND hang out with a fun group of people? Well, finally, there is something just for you! The Burlington-Waterdown Youth Group has totally revolutionezed its approach and is gearing up for a season of fun, fellowship and growth together as youth in the church. The theme of the Youth Group is "Be Renewed" and our theme text is Psalm 51:10, which says "Create in me a pure heart, O God; and renew a steadfast spirit within me." We are looking forward to studying the "fruit of the Spirit" this year. Our kickoff event will take place on Saturday, September the 13th following the church picnic and will include a bonfire, singing and an introduction by the youth leaders! Stay tuned for more details!

new logo

Hey all,

The BW Youth Group will be running with a new logo from here on out. Feel free to comment on what you like/dislike about it - and we'll take it into consideration for future revisions! You can find the logo below:

Thanks!

Mike

blog goes live!

Well, it looks like the blog is just about complete. A few more bells + whistles will be added as time goes on, but until then - this is it!

If you are a member of BW (Burlington-Waterdown for those non-abbreviation people) Youth Group, you'll most likely be getting a weekly/bi-weekly reminder of upcoming events or what not. This still has to be configured, but is in its final stages of preparation.

We're working on getting a nice, full, youth group photo album - so if you have a camera or pictures, feel free to take pics and pass them along to us!

If you have any other suggestions, ideas, or thoughts about the blog + youth group on the whole, feel free to fire the leadership team an e-mail at: bwyouthgroup@gmail.com

Thanks, and have a great week.

Mike
